Pet Care Providers

Choosing pet care providers is extremely important to me. I understand you are handing over the keys to your home in order for us to care for a precious member of your family. My pet care providers consists of individuals with whom I have worked with in the veterinary industry for years, are close personal friends of mine or existing team members, or are previous clients for whom we have provided pet sitting services in the past. We are bonded and insured with the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters and are committed to treating your home and pets with the utmost respect, showing the same love and compassion to your pets as you would. Every pet care provider is capable of caring for healthy pets as well as those with any medical conditions or other special needs. Pet care providers are carefully vetted as I personally utilize the services of my pet providers for Pet Sitting and Overnight Pet Care with my own pets in my home.

JULIE PETRIE

Julie Petrie

My desire to care and interact with pets led me to the veterinary industry where I have worked for 22 years. Initially I worked as a receptionist, then as a technician before moving into an office manager position.

During my tenure in the veterinary industry I gained the business development experience and initial contacts prompting me to create my own pet-sitting service – Peace of Mind In Home Pet Care.

My awareness of the unconditional love pets offer their owners, my compassion for all animals, and my affinity to treat all of my clients “children” as my own has been the foundation for Peace of Minds continued growth

I grew up in Kansas in the country and always with pets. I have been in Northern California for 26 years. Currently I have one miniature Dachshund, Jabba, (named by my grandson) who has recently developed degenerative disc disorder. Next to being with my four grandchildren, I find caring for pets to be very therapeutic, and caring for them always raises my spirits.

My other interests are: crocheting, knitting, bike riding, reading, long scenic car rides, road trips, and traveling.

My love for animals began when I was just a kid – my parents and I enjoyed the company of many cats and dogs during my childhood. I was in the K-9 Corps in the Air Force, and now my wife and I share a home with two cats, Lois and Irma, and one very sweet old dog, Lucy. Since we require Julie’s In-Home Pet Care assistance from time-to-time, I not only enjoy being part of the team, I’m also a very happy client.

My name is Stacey, I am a retired RVT & worked at Mission Valley Veterinary Clinic here in Fremont for many years. I really enjoyed my work and all the experience I gained throughout the years. I had the opportunity to work with many wonderful clients and their furry companions.

My husband and I have two wonderful children, two Boxers & care for some feral cats that live on our front porch.

I am so happy to be a part of Peace of Mind In-Home Pet Care and I look forward to taking care of many wonderful and cherished family pets.

Michelle Gould

My name is Michelle. I have loved pets my entire life. I got my first pet when I was four years old (unless you count goldfish then it was probably three) and have had pets ever since. I currently only have one dog that I probably spoil a bit too much.

When I was in middle school I started taking care of family friends cats while they were out of town and continued that off and on through the years. After college I took on housesitting for friends and acquaintances until I started working for Julie and working with her clients as well!

I also work as an Autism Specialist for the San Ramon Valley school district which makes me only available for afternoon/evening visits, walks and for overnights. At least during the week – luckily working for a school means I get holidays and summers off!

I have always loved animals and grew up with dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, iguanas, fish and birds – not all at the same time. For the last five years, I have shared my home with two rescue kittens Abbie and Mei. I first met Julie when I was trying to find someone to care for ‘the girls’ during an extended vacation. From the first time I met her and saw how she interacted with Mei and Abbie, I knew Julie would live up to her company’s name and provide me with “Peace of Mind” when I was away. I have been an enthusiastic customer ever since.

I recently retired and although loving the time to garden, travel and dabble with watercolors, I was looking to find what my next life adventure was going to include. I was thrilled when Julie asked if I could help her with providing pet care. I am a resident of Castro Valley and commute to Pleasanton for work as a molecular biologist daily. I volunteer once a week cleaning cat cages at Pet Smart in San Leandro for Hayward Animal Shelter kitties until they find forever homes. In addition, I volunteer for the Tri Valley Fix Our Feral organization helping feral kitties have a better life. Thanks to Peace of Mind I also get to enjoy meeting many wonderful companion animals. My house has been termed “Misfit Island” for all of those past and present who have called it home. That’s what happens when you volunteer at an animal shelter. Very happy to be part of the team and provide the same excellent care to others which Peace of Mind in-home pet care has given my pets.

Diane Sinks

My name is Diane Sinks, and I’ve been a client at Mission Valley Veterinary Clinic for over 40 years for an array of pets, ranging from rats and guinea pigs to cats and dogs, and a fish pond. I grew up in Fremont and moved to Newark in 2006 when I married my husband.

I met Julie Petrie when she started working at MVVC in 1996, and Stacey Littrell when she started as a Vet Tech.

In 2007 I was so relieved to discover Julie had started her own in-home pet care business when my husband and I were planning a much needed vacation but wanted to have our 3 dogs and cat cared for in our home rather than board them in unfamiliar surroundings. Julie stayed overnight with our gang for 10 days, providing for them all the attention that they were accustomed to.

I have a regular full-time job that was moved to Livermore after 20+ years in Fremont in January so my days of coming home to have lunch with my pets came to an end. Since then Stacey has been our in-home pet sitter making our commute not more pleasant, but at least less stressful knowing everyone is in good hands at their usual lunch time. I have been taking care of pets for friends and family most of my life, and decided to join the team when Julie asked if it was something I’d be interested in doing evenings and weekends, primarily cats. So here I am.

My name is Brenda Augustine. I am a Bay Area native and have been a Castro Valley resident for 45 years. I am currently the fur-mommy to 2 dogs, 7 rescue kitties, and 10 bunnies. After retirement, I knew I wanted to do something that I genuinely loved, and that is nothing other than work that involved animals. I was so happy to sign on with Peace of Mind In-Home Pet Care!
